CCC congratulates member Lee Sauer on the publication of his new young adult novel, Token. According to Lee, Token “is a response to Trump’s election” and takes readers on an adventure to unlock an orb to a galaxy plagued by division and other problems while exploring the themes of environmentalism as well as female empowerment, leadership, and friendship. Lee noted, “I envisioned this book as encouraging a female blue wave at the fall elections,” hoping “maybe it can inspire a mind or two.”
Regarding the chapter titled “Talk, Talk, Talk,” Lee shared, “CCC members may recognize a scene in the book, which I revised after a meeting in which our group was accused of talking endlessly at the expense of taking action. During the meeting, my eyes popped open when the real-life dialogue began to match almost verbatim what I had written as fiction. I left the meeting convinced that the book was timely: if our group was struggling with how to take action, others must be, too.” He elaborated, “I still don’t know what to do, do, do, but until I figure that out, I can at least talk, talk, talk and write, write, write,” and we think those are meaningful steps.
Let’s celebrate Lee’s accomplishments—finding ways to take action and publishing Token, which is available from Amazon. Congratulations, Lee!
